Super Bowl 2017: Record-Shattering for the Win

In case you missed it, this year’s Super Bowl shattered records from top to bottom. The annual championship was the first ever to go into overtime  fueled by the biggest comeback in the game’s history (a 25-point deficit by the New England Patriots)  and earned quarterback Tom Brady his fourth MVP award and fifth championship ring.

And the playing field wasn’t the only place records were broken: online retailers also cleaned up across the board, proving that these days, it’s not just the beer and chips brands raking in consumer dollars. From team apparel to super-high-def electronics, new opportunities to market football-adjacent products are cropping up every year. What’s more, football fans are buying more goods online than ever before, with the average eGrocery cart size the week before the big game beating out the average Black Friday cart size (for all categories, not just groceries) by a full 50 cents.

How can you best prepare your online storefront for next year’s kickoff? We’ve drafted a play-by-play breakdown of the search and ecommerce trends surrounding this year’s big game to help you do just that. Download the full report here.
